12 Days of Caring Recap

Caregivers devote themselves tirelessly to their loved ones year-round, often shouldering physical, emotional, and financial stress. During the holidays, these challenges are often amplified, accompanied by feelings of isolation. The 12 Days of Caring campaign was created to show our deep appreciation for these hardworking individuals and to make their holiday season a little brighter.

Applegate & Dillman Elder Law: Caring for Caregivers

To bring this vision to life, we partnered with local businesses and organizations that share our passion for supporting caregivers. Krueckeberg Auction and Realty, Just-in-Time Deep Steam Cleaning, Grandbrook Memory Care, Werner Financial (Curtis Reeser), The Brown Tearman Wolfe Group (Judy Wolfe), Senior Home Companions, The Memory Compass, Careforth, St. Vincent PACE, Churchill Reporting, Primary Record, Partners in Aging, and even a client of Applegate & Dillman Elder Law stepped up to generously donate resources.

With these contributions, we created twelve thoughtfully curated baskets, each valued at over $400. These baskets were designed to offer caregivers items they might not typically purchase for themselves—candles, blankets, massagers, water bottles, and a variety of gift cards.

Once the baskets were assembled, nominations for 12 Days of Caring opened from November 4 to November 15. During this period, over 60 nominations were submitted for caregivers across Indiana. Each nomination told a story that was both heartwarming and heartbreaking, underscoring the immense need for caregiver support and recognition.

From these submissions, twelve nominations were randomly selected. Each winner was contacted and informed that their selfless sacrifices had been noticed by someone close to them and that they had been chosen as a recipient of 12 Days of Caring.

Our Legal Team is Supporting Caregivers in Our Community

One caregiver selected works full-time while balancing life as a mother of two, a wife, and the primary caregiver for her mother, who requires round-the-clock care. In mid-September, tragedy struck when their home burned down. While the family was fortunate to escape unharmed, the emotional and material losses were immense.

Another caregiver was nominated by her children, who shared:
"Our mother has endured so much, including battling breast cancer twice, yet she continues to care for others. This is our chance to publicly say we love her and thank her for everything she’s done."

The gratitude from caregivers was overwhelming. One recipient expressed:
"Words cannot express just how grateful I am for your kindness and generosity. From the bottom of my heart, thank you. This came at the perfect time, given everything I am going through."

These stories highlight the resilience of caregivers and the profound impact that recognition and support can have in their lives.

Through 12 Days of Caring, our goal is to not only honor the sacrifices caregivers make but also offer them a small moment of comfort and joy during this special season.

A heartfelt thank you to our sponsors for making this campaign possible. We look forward to continuing this tradition and supporting caregivers for many years to come.
